The association DiaGen

DiaGen is a non-profit association based in Geneva (Switzerland) that has been supporting research on Diabetes since 2007. Most recently DiaGen switched gears with the goal of empowering the donors to choose the projects they want to support. Also, DiaGen selects excellent projects that can really make a difference for people suffering from Diabetes. This is what distinguishes DiaGen from the common practice of other associations/foundations raising funds to support research in Diabetes and beyond. You are empowered to decide the excellent projects to support.

Diagen Director

Claudia Vianna, Ph.D.

Claudia holds a Ph.D. in the field of physiology and was trained at University of São Paulo (São Paulo) and Harvard University (Boston). She had a post-doctoral appointment at Università Politecnica delle Marche (Italy) and as Instructor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (Dallas). She was awarded with several scientific grants and holds important scientific publications in the field of Diabetes and Body Metabolism.

Roberto Coppari, Ph.D.

Roberto is a full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva (UNIGE) and an elected member of the National Research Council of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). Roberto had a pivotal role in the foundation of the Diabetes Center at UNIGE in 2015 and he has been the Coordinator of this center since this date. Roberto was trained at Harvard University (Boston) during his Ph.D. in the field of neuroscience and metabolism, and a Faculty member at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center from 2007 until 2012. He then moved to UNIGE in 2013. Roberto is recipient of several research grants and awards and has pioneered the field aimed at unmasking novel mechanisms permitting life without insulin.

Giorgio Ramadori, Ph.D.

Giorgio is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva (UNIGE). Giorgio holds a Ph.D. in molecular biology and pharmacology and was trained at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and UNIGE. Giorgio has been awarded with prestigious research grants and prizes for his scientific work aimed at identifying novel anti-diabetic (as well as anti-cancer) therapeutic approaches.
